MICHAEL L. KEANE II, SPHR, SHRM-SCP 

President & Founder

Over his career, the firm's President, Michael L. Keane II (Mike), closely observed the constant evolution of the Human Resources function.  He quickly began to notice that many businesses, especially small and mid-size organizations, struggled to find the time and lacked the knowledge needed to make necessary HR changes.  In many cases small organizations, who were unable to justify even having an HR department, were unable to properly manage HR issues at all.  Being unable to keep up with these new trends came at a huge cost to many businesses.  People Operations strategies began to lag way behind the overall organizational strategies causing a gap that led to unhappy employees and decreased business growth.  Mike saw this as an opportunity to share his knowledge, so he founded Mayflower Junction HR Consulting

During his more than 20 years in Human Resources, Mike worked across a myriad of industries helping to successfully build and develop HR departments.    He has spent time in operations, employee relations, recruiting, and HR management roles in the retail, sales, hospitality, legal and healthcare industries.  Most recently he was the Director of Human Resources for a very successful law firm where he had success advancing the HR function for an organization that had quickly tripled in size. 

Prior to that, Mike spent 6 years as Director of Human Resources and Talent Development for a mid-size healthcare organization.  Here, he built the Human Resources department from the ground up.  He was able to develop a team and an HR strategy that helped the board of directors finally meet its goal of selling the company. He was also able to cut the organization's high employee turnover in half using many of the same strategies and services that our firm offers today. Having worked in both Operations and Human Resources, Mike possesses a unique skillset that helps him understand how to best match strategies to help businesses reach optimum success.

Mike is a graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources and Marketing.  He holds certifications from the top two governing bodies of HR; the Human Resources Certification Institute (Senior Professional in Human Resources - SPHR) and the Society for Human Resources Management (Senior Certified Professional - SHRM-SCP).  

When Mike isn't working, he likes to spend time with his three sons attending art shows, comic cons, hockey games, and boxing lessons.  He also enjoys spending time with his wife of 17 years and working in his yard at his home, located in the ocean front community of Kingston, MA.
